PIERRE, S.D. – The Department of Labor and Regulation has launched a virtual labor market data system available from the Labor Market Information Center’s (LMIC) website.
Users can view the most recent statistics available, along with historical data, of occupational wage estimates, labor force and unemployment rates, employment and earnings by industry, population and the Consumer Price Index.
“This step into the virtual LMI world is exciting for South Dakota” said state Labor and Regulation Secretary Marcia Hultman. “The new online resource is a great addition to our lineup of services to help employers, job seekers and career planners succeed in the labor market.”
The new system offers greater functionality than the previous application, such as the ability to view or export graphs and maps of the data selected. It also can create customized profiles on a specific area, industry or occupation with comparisons to a second option possible.
“This tool is technologically advanced, but designed to be intuitive and flexible,” said Secretary Hultman. “I’m confident our customers will welcome the improved, upgraded system.”
To help users transition, the menus for each labor market data set were modified with links to the new system. Instructions for finding the data within the new system are provided. LMIC staff are also available to help guide users step by step or provide the data needed. Please call 605-626-2314 with questions or for assistance.
