Hello fellow economic development partners! Did you know that the State Bureau of Human Resources offers training classes that you can also take? It’s TRUE! Under the Training section of the BHR website there are classes offered in the Professional Development and Computer Training categories that you can utilize for your own benefit.
Professional Development classes range from business english to working with hostile customers and Computer Training provides several opportunities to learn the ins-and-outs of your Microsoft Office products as well as Adobe products.
I’d like to draw particular attention to two classes that we have mentioned in our RFI Workshops:
- Business English – next class is March 22nd in Sioux Falls
- Effective Writing – 3 classes are schedule across the state (Rapid City, Pierre, and Sioux Falls – starting February 18th!)
If you can only attend one, go with Effective Writing! It is excellent and you get a Grammar-Nazi manual to take home with you (not what it’s actually called but a Grammar-Nazi-in-training, like myself, thinks it’s hilarious). This book (technically called the Gregg Reference Manual) is worth the price of the class alone! Plus it’s actually a fun class… and I don’t just say that because I’m a nerd.
So if you are interested in learning more about these classes, check out the website or call the Bureau of Human Resources at (605) 773.3461.
